About Us
The OAK TREE FOUNDATION - Helping Romanian Children are a group of volunteers, just ordinary people from all walks of life and of all ages mainly from the Kirklees and Calderdale areas of West Yorkshire. We are lucky in the fact that we have many supporters in West Yorkshire and from as far affield as Stockport, Manchester, York and Poole. All of the group give their time freely - we have no paid employees.
Many of our group have been involved in taking humantarian aid out to Romania since the first aid trips that went out in early 1990 which gives us a unique position of knowing and understanding Romania, its people, its ways, its customs and its ever changing problems.
We are a UK Registered Charity number: 1090392 and have a Romanian sister foundation:
Fundatia Picatura in Ocean - Drop in the Ocean Foundation - more of that later.
All our funding comes from public donation, fund raising and occasional grants.
Everything that is donated in the UK is transported overland to Romania where it is unloaded and delivered directly to those in most need by our own UK members.
